Using -LAH to make indonesian imperative sentence

Put –lah to make Indonesian imperative sentence

One way to make an imperative sentence in bahasa indonesia is the use of –lah. We put –lah after verb /kata kerja. See the examples below.

1.     Pergi                          becomes                  pergilah                    (pergi + lah)

2.     Melihat                     becomes                  melihatlah                  (melihat+ lah)

3.     Duduk                       becomes                  duduklah                  (duduk + lah)

4.     Menulis                    becomes                  menulislah                 (menulis +lah)

5.     Bangun                     becomes                  bangunlah                 (bangun + lah)

It can be seen that to make indonesian imperative sentence we just put –lah. Lets see also the following examples;

1.     Saya pergi bersama Ulan                        I go with Ulan

Pergilah bersama Ulan                                go with Ulan

2.     Mereka menulis puisi bagus                  they write good poem

Menulislah puisi yang bagus                      write good poem

3.     Budi duduk disebelah Ahmad               Budi sits beside Ahmad

Duduklah desebelah Ahmad                      sit beside Ahmad

4.     Saya membaca novel                              I read novel

Bacalah novel                                               read novel

5.     Kamu manggunakan Hp mu                you use your handphone

Gunakanlah hp mu                                     use your handphone
